I am happy and honored that my blog is now featured on the home page of Arcade140.com, a brand new gamer website. I know there are a lot of websites that are based on gaming, but I am very excited about this one because it really is in the beginning stages and already shows so much promise. Being a new site, members can become involved in helping to shape the site into what they want it to become.
One of the things that I like about the site is that they have the news feeds direct from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. There are a lot of sources for news on the web. I don’t even know how many feeds fill my my Google Reader in any given day. While I find a lot of these feeds interesting so much of it is opinion and rumor. Sometimes it is just nice to go straight to the source. All three of these sources can be easily found in the news page on the site.
What I like best about the site is that it really will be a social site. There are pages for groups, blogs, forums, and even classifieds. Furthermore, the site is not dedicated to one console or game. Members have the ability to create groups based on whatever they feel worthy. The ability to be a part of several communities all on one site is very appealing to me. Why should we have to bookmark 20 different sites that are dedicated to a single game? It makes far more sense, in my opinion, to have one site that is dedicated to all genres and playing styles and is welcoming to everyone.
Another feature I would like to mention is that Arcade140.com has it’s own amazon store. I don’t even know how many times I have been on a website and wanted to add something to my wish list or purchase it right away. Through the store people can purchase games and strategy guides without having to leave the site. The inclusion of the store is just another example of how Arcade140.com has made a site where everything can be at our fingertips.
As I said earlier, this site is still in the early stages of development. This leaves room for members to become active with the site and its development through comments and feedback. Since all members are new members it is very welcoming and not overwhelming. Not only that, but there will probably be room for new members to become moderators and other leaders of the site. Members can host their own blogs on the site and offer articles, whether they be opinionated or guides, to other members. I hope that you will check the site out and sign up. And if you feel so inclined, feel free to leave me a message on my profile.
This is cool!
